Were you ever confused over some administrational stuff that you had to do? There is a free city service hotline in Berlin – and since recently, they also speak English.
The so-called Bürgertelefon (citizen phone) offers answers for all sorts of administrational questions, for instance on:
- doing your registration (Anmeldung)
- applying for a WBS
- registering your car
- registering a new company
- marrying 😉
You only need to call 115, or more exact: +49 30 115 on weekdays from 9 am to 5 pm.
By default, a German-speaking operator will pick up the phone but you can ask for an English-speaking one.
The price for a phone call varies: from landline connection, you usually pay the local tariff as you would call a normal landline number (flatrates apply, too). Calling from your mobile phone usually also gets treated as calling a landline number but there may be exceptions.
